  1. Hope you feel better soon. Couple of us going from Glasgow but heading via Killie to avoid the M74 closure.
  2. Good post. Also, don’t underestimate in these situations the family influence via social media. If your son is thousands of miles away and you follow their club, only to see regular negative comments about the team and players…doesn’t make for a positive experience for them either, exacerbating the situation. Jurys out on Yogi and the signings. I get the whole “hard work from others” but if I’m being really honest, at this point my concern is much more about the quality of work rather than unproductive “graft”. We’ve seen such a decline over the last few years, I doubt it’s through lack of effort.
  3. That’s a bit unfair though Digs on folk who disagree. He’s been in and out, and has made a fair bunch of mistakes that led to goals when he was getting up to speed, and also made the mistake that led to the goal getting us knocked out the Scottish cup. We’re not talking about someone who when playing was making a marked difference to results all the way. He may not have been poor all the time, but he has had poor games and overall hasn’t been particularly great for me. He may be the “best midfielder” at the club but he hasn’t performed like it at times, and given the lack of quality in our teams midfield - I wouldn’t say being best of what we’ve got is a particularly big boast! 😂
  4. A 33 year old brute of a boy who in his career has beat Barcelona, won the African cup of nations, and has played in a World Cup? Why would we not want him if there was a chance of getting him in? 😂 I heard all the “legs gone” stuff about Berra for Rovers too, doesn’t seem to have done them much harm and hes 36. Get him signed rapid. Would be a tremendous player at this level even with his advancing years.
  5. Technically he wasn’t signed though, so the point would stand. Doesn’t bear thinkin about tho given the squad left 🤣
  6. Was quite chuffed to see him getting planted in front of the dugout fairly early on. Who was the Pars hero that took him out?
  7. He’d need to catch him first 😉 but I agree. Clatter the little runt first chance we get.
  8. This. Ultimately Wighton has a pattern in his career so far, starts well, then loses interest. Now it has to be said our midfield hasn’t helped this season obviously, but it seemed apparent to me that he just didn’t want to be here. So there’s no point keeping someone like that. No matter how “talented” they are.
  9. Hey RM. Appreciate the note, and absolutely a healthy dose of scepticism is appropriate when it comes to our club. I just think as a general support (not so much on this forum) we are pretty quick to jump to negatives based on in the instant results on the park, flip side with positives too! “Yogis at the wheel” after 2 wins (shudder). Time will tell with these guys.
  10. I really like these guys and the way they’ve been conducting themselves through some pretty awful times. Listening to Damir again from that initial conversation, “we want to do something with people we enjoy spending time with away from work”. Don’t underestimate that part about how much they had in common with our board and the why they invested. I’m hopeful that the new CEO on the board will make a very big difference to a lot of the links at the moment such as comms with fans. I would also add that say if we were at least midtable, a lot of the suspicion and negativity about these guys would vanish. As to be expected, when things on the park aren’t going well, folk start picking on everything to do with the club from the catering to the sports science to the lethargy of ball persons…etc… 😂
  11. We have a habit of tolerating folk who talk a good game despite the stats tbf…
  12. Robbie muirhead scoring the 5th in a 5-0 defeat has to be in the top 3 worst moments of all time.
  13. Only Dunfermline could get an investment that looks transformational and manage to make such a mess of the on field decisions. hiring Grant and then replacing him with Hughes - both of whom recently relegated teams in this league, looks like the most obviously stupid combo of decisions possible. Yet we’ve done it. All for supporting and giving folk a chance, but sometimes standing back and seeing the obvious is all that’s needed. Christ what an absolute cluster****.
  14. Correct. Grant let the boy sink. Was a crying shame what happened to the lad. He clearly needed dropped for a bit to build confidence but the manager at the time persisted on that shape and those player selections which continued to expose the lad to risk. He was relied upon to get the ball forward and obviously that became another risk area. Best luck to the lad and hope he rebuilds his confidence.
  15. Good man thanks. This gives me hope. The worry for me for now is about effect of the infections on those self isolating that will cause huge staffing pressures on services. Hope it continues to be a mild disease and this is the start of the thing getting itself so far to f**k.
  16. What’s your source for the ICU number? Not wanting to get into a debate about the whole thing or be a dick, but genuinely have looked for this and cannot find it. If you can provide a link would be good cheers.
  17. I would hope not. In fact surely no. It would be incredibly foolish of our board to behave like that and to be fair to them, that seems completely against their previous character. Lets see what evidence comes forward.
  18. It’s a decent start. And exactly the type of player that could spark us. Good deal for both parties.
  19. Aye for me it was poor form to just shut the doors. I understand all the arguments about cost etc - but as a fan I’d much rather have lost on the ballot than have the club say ken what, nah - just no happening. Im sitting watching sportscene and Rangers are on, no a steward or polis to be seen, fans spread right along the stand. As a season ticket holder I’m left wondering what exactly is the point of having one other than altruism on my part. That’s been exhausted by a lot of the clubs decision making over a number of fronts now.
  20. Just watched the highlights. Obviously a snapshot of the game but what is really apparent is how slow and deliberate our play is. Arbroath - NOT a long ball team, but were bloody quick at getting the ball into the right places and turning it over.
  21. Yup! And while I’m open to giving the guy a chance, I’m worried. Even his comments in the post match interview about first choice second choice etc really worry me.
  22. Yeh I’m gonna call it - I think they are all wrong. Peter Grant with the worst record of any Dunfermline manager, Greg Shields who has been assistant through all the decline in the last couple of seasons and Whittaker a new coach. Yogi I’ll address later in my thoughts. But I’ll stand here with my 34 years of watching professional football and rubbish level amateur football coaching, and still assert that they are wrong and I am right in this - Graham Dorrans is not working out for us. In fact, rarely does any team with a former big name player playing in centre midfield do that well in the Championship. Charlie Adam got dropped by Dundee during their big run in that got them up. Successful championship midfields of the last decade include a mix of utter bastards (Vigurs, Draper et al) and energetic young fresh bold fit runners. We have not been successful at this level since coming up - pretty much because of our midfield. Into this season and for me there is one common denominator across the entire season, and that has been our midfield being woefully inept. Dorrans has been a fairly big constant in that too. I’m gonna call this out too. Unless Yogi has a spectacular transfer window, for me theres been a cigarette paper between him and Peter Grant so far in the performances we’ve seen from the team. Clearly Yogi has learnt from his Raith experience in that he hasn’t (yet) thrown any players under the bus, but maybe his true colours will show soon. I am seriously worried that again, our board have picked the wrong man. Yogis championship records is not good. Premiership yes, but at this level….not great from my recollection. Now as per my post earlier, I didn’t watch the game today. So if there’s been evidence today that disputes what I say above be good to hear it, but again getting bodied by Arbroath 3-0 makes me suspect I’m pretty much spot on in my observations. 😂
  23. Ach is that all? Well it would have been nice if we could. We used to have a manager and assistant make a good living out of signing all the best part time players….
