Centre backs arguably could have pushed and pressed a bit more but they are probably not wanting to get pulled and leave gaps. This is the risk of playing Dorrans for me, the hard defensive side of his game is missing - and can be exploited if you don’t have a particularly strong defence behind him.

The whole 3 at the back thing under Grant COULD have worked, had he employed the right personnel to play it, and it really needed 2 absolute powerhouse midfielders, one leader at the back with 2 mobile ball playing centre half’s and 3 strikers/front men who knew how to defence press. And a goalie who’s not worth a 2 goal start to the opposition. To answer the specific Q regarding Rovers, id probably look to play a 4-2-3-1 with a combo of OHara, Wighton, Thomas and McCann, all fluid and rotate between those 4 positions (I don’t think we swap enough to try and change it up) look to try and retain the ball on the deck in the final third and press Rovers centre backs online against pace and movement. Two holding mids, Wilson and probably Allan. Back 4 of edwards Gasputis Connolly and MacDonald. In goal I would just find any potential way possible of getting a new keeper…but if forced I’d have to play OFW. Can hear the Lewis McCann haters warming up their ammo now, 😂 I just think the laddie needs a proper chance to shine, Dow needs a rest, Kennedy needs a taxi back to Ibrox, and I don’t think anyone else comes close in those forward positions.

I’m really pleased he’s staying on to see the season out at least. This way it feels much more suiting to the respectful way he has conducted himself as chairman and allows a proper handover.

Sad news, Walter Smith passes away.

So I suppose the first part of that can be answered by asking the question of the guy. Does he want the job? Why wouldn’t we ask? And surely we can put together something that is more attractive than his current roles put together. Hes spoke previously about how much affection he has for the club. The other aspect to this of course is around the optics of our boards actions. We’ve had loads of leaks previously about stuff happening, surely if Petrie had been spoken to and had said no, that’d have leaked pretty rapid. And seeing as the current incumbent didn’t apply…

I said it before, there can only be one candidate for us to appoint once Mr Grant has been relieved of his duties. I believe this squad has the potential to get us relegated. They are THAT bad and imbalanced for me. Whoever comes in to fix this mess needs time and may well not be able to save us from the drop. Only Petrie has enough good will from the support to be able to do that and get the time to bring us back up stronger and better. I understand the whole point about him being part time, but at our level surely this is what we would want to be doing? Appoint up and coming managers who have been successful in lower leagues, proven habit of winning and building a side for consistent progression. And he’s an ex-Par. Isnt it so screamingly obvious!? 😂

Btw I wouldn’t agree that we just defended. We looked absolutely solid at the back, just majorly lacking middle to front.

And I’ve heard the opposite, they’re just disappointed with results so far. But they are much more pragmatic than a lot of the drama we get involved in as fans. You don’t go investing £500k with promises of more then just go chucking it because the club youve bought has lost a few games.

I’ve not been a particular fan of Watson to be honest. Wasn’t keen on how he seemed to disappear last season when things were tough. Also never quite understand how someone with his experience has never had the armband. Gotta ask yourself why. Connolly is a significant upgrade for me. link added
