Marshall in no mans land for half of those crosses. Would have been better placed in the middle of goals rather than at the left post. He's long finished now for me, hasn't been the same keeper since that 1st goal in Euro's.

Yeah  he wasn't convincing at all  although neither was the marking in the box, nor the utter failure to inhibit Villa's attacks up the left wing. How many times did they manage to swing it in unchallenged?

Seemed like Villa set up expecting Hibs to have a right good go for the first few minutes of each half (which they did), and then just casually turned up the heat for a minute or two to get a goal, then let Hibs have another go, etc, etc.

It's very harsh to blame Marshall for any of those goals. They defended horrendously from front to back on all of the goals, not getting tight enough, not closing down, and ball watching. Digne was skipping up and down that left hand side in his baffies, and picking out cross as if it was a no pressure drill. The marking of Watkins for the two centre backs was nothing short of atrocious. A striker should never be able to score a header in between two centre backs.

In short, Villa barely got out of second gear but putting it in perspective, they spent £90m on 3 players this summer, Hibs whole squad cost about £1m. Having said that, defending as a team like that, it doesn't matter what the difference in ability is, you're going to get pumped no matter who you are playing.

Not directly blaming him, though his position at the front post made the crossing far easier.

Simple fact is they had way too much room to get the cross in to begin with, and as you say the marking when the crosses came was awful.
