The patterns aren’t about sales, it’s psychology.

Loud and garish designs on goalie tops are supposed to make the keeper appear larger and therefore the goal smaller by catching the strikers eye rather than focussing on the space they’re trying to put the ball and draw the ball towards them.

No idea if it works or not but that’s the idea.

Qbert what a description, i actually don't mind it. Might even consider it for a new running top. I reckon it could be as iconic as the Hummel GK top that a few teams had in the eary/mid 90's.

True stuff. I played as a goalkeeper growing up in the era of Jorge Campos style tops and decided to get one of the most incredibly bright and garish efforts available at the time.

Lets just say it takes more than a garish top to be a decent keeper, and those tops don’t help when you’re having a bit of a mare 🫣

All the colours in the world aren't going to help you if you've got poppadom hands...
